In my previous post, I talked a little about some of my goals for 2024. In this post, I’m going to expand more and probably add some.
First thing’s first, I want to blog more. At least one blog post a week. That’s 52 total blog posts. Last year, I signed up to “Bring Back Blogging” and I have to admit, while I started to slack off a bit, I think I did pretty well looking at the Archives. I have posts for every month other than March and August. Not sure why I didn’t even get one post out, but this year, I am stepping up on that goal and commitment! Back in 2020, I lost pretty much everything on my blog. I was migrating servers, deleted my site after I migrated it, only to have the new server’s drive fail and that meant I lost it. Ugh.
I am going to code more. In PHP. Because PHP isn’t dead. I want to get even better with my PHP and fix a lot of the issues I have had with some of my apps I’ve created and fix some lingering bugs. Additionally I want to do some more open source – whether my own projects or others.
I’m also going to look through my past and find old resolutions and try to work on them.
Here we go kiddies – the big shebang… the list of lists… the list that I am going to religiously stick to this year.
“Haus of Travis”, December 31, 2012 (Archived)
- Continue saving money and hit $XXXX in my savings account.
- By the end of 2013, either purchase or have purchased, or soon to move into a house.
- Cut out soda and fast food (and I am going to try the hardest to succeed!)
- Excel in my career to hopefully make IT Director or at least officially be recognized as a departmental supervisor/manager.
- Find a side project and get it running.
- Find an adventure everyday.
- Make at least 3 new friends and reconnect with old friends.
- Have a great year and make everything count – the smiles, the laughter, the tears, the anger, and the fear.
There’s a lot of stuff here, but I must say 20-something me was very advantageous. Some of these don’t apply anymore (1, 2, and 5 specifically) or I have moved on from (4). But I definitely want to revisit 3, 6, 7, and 8.
I have neglected my personal health for several years now. I eat terribly, I exercise rarely, and I’ve put on more weight than I’ve wanted to. That’s why I definitely want to expand on 3.
I also want to work more on learning Spanish. I actually randomly picked it back up in August and have been slowly working on it since. I think it’s important as well as helpful to learn multiple languages.
Anyways, that is it for now. I don’t want to overwhelm myself with any additional goals. Keeping things in balance is key!
